The North Missouri
Sportsman’s Alliance (NMSA) is comprised of six existing outdoor organizations, all headquartered within a 38-mile radius. The NMSA is comprised of
Central Missouri Whitetails
Unlimited, Chillicothe; Grand River Area Chapter of Ducks
Unlimited, Chillicothe; North Missouri Chapter of the National Wild Turkey
Federation, Chillicothe; the Chillicothe
High School Hunting & Fishing Club, Chillicothe; Parsons Creek Chapter of Ducks
Unlimited, Meadville; and the Shoal Creek Chapter of Pheasants and Quail
Forever, Cameron. The NMSA will initially be responsible for the annual North Missouri Outdoor Classic, to be held the second weekend in February. The classic will provide opportunities for those who love the outdoors to meet with those who earn their living in the outdoor world. The NMSA will also provide
outdoor programming at various times throughout the calendar year, as well as promote ethics in the outdoors. The biggest challenge for the NMSA is that of funding the
Share The Harvest program, which will allow hunters to donate venison to feed the poor in four counties. The NMSA
hopes to have this program up and running by Fall 2008. Central Missouri Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited
The Central Missouri Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited held its first fund raising event on April 19, 1997. The chapter’s banquets are now held on the first Saturday in February. Officers for the chapter are Danny Hecker, President; Kelly Timmons, Vice-President; and Tony Lightner, Secretary-Treasurer. The chapter is active in youth activities and has been providing some funding to the
Share The Harvest program. Grand River Area Chapter of Ducks Unlimited
The Grand River Area Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is the oldest DU chapter in Missouri. Its fund raising events have earned the Grand River DU committee Top 100 chapter status in the country twice, in 2004 and again in 2005. The Grand River DU chapter always places in the Top Ten in Missouri fund raising events and averages over 65 sponsors each year, including seven Life Sponsors. The organization’s purpose is to restore and perpetuate wild ducks and other wild waterfowl on the North American continent, including establishing, promoting, assisting, contributing or encouraging the study of conservation and management of wild waterfowl and its habitat. President of the Grand River Area DU Chapter is Scott Englert. John Rennels is serving as Vice-President. North Central Missouri Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation
The North Central Missouri Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is the oldest NWTF chapter west of the Mississippi River. The purpose of the NCMC continues to be to support the wild turkey and other wildlife conservation programs and the furthering of our hunting heritage through fund raising and educational efforts. The NCMC has held 30 annual banquets and has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the NWTF’s wildlife conservation programs with nearly all of the money being spent on wildlife projects in Missouri. A four-time National NWTF Chapter of the Year, The North Central Chapter is proud to be a charter member of the NMSA and is a strong supporter of all wildlife conservation organizations in the area. Chapter officers are Terry Thorne, President; Tony Burtch, Vice-President; and Jeff McDonald, Secretary-Treasurer. Chillicothe
High School Hunting & Fishing Club
The Chillicothe Hunting & Fishing Club is comprised of students at Chillicothe High
School. The purpose of the club is to educate the students through the teaching of outdoor skills. The club also provides opportunities for students to participate in an organization and to be involved in a non-traditional school activity. The Chillicothe Hunting & Fishing Club was formed in 2001. Officers for the Hunting & Fishing Club are
Ethan Beck, President; Clayton Vadnais, Vice-President; and Gina Gates, Secretary. Mike Lewis serves as the club’s sponsor. Parsons Creek Chapter of Ducks Unlimited
The Parsons Creek Chapter of Ducks Unlimited was founded in 2003. The current chairman of the DU chapter, which is headquartered in
Meadville, is Darrell Clark. The Parsons Creek Chapter recently adopted Highway W from U.S. Highway 36 to the entrance of the Fountain Grove Wildlife Area. Parsons Creek is also working closely with Fountain Grove through an NAWCA grant to improve the water distribution system in the wildlife area’s three main pools, as well as the installation of a new pump along the Grand River and the renovation of existing levees. The primary fund raiser prior to the North Missouri Outdoor Classic is a Fun Night in Meadville on the second Friday night in March. Shoal Creek Chapter of Pheasants and Quail Forever
The Shoal Creek Chapter of Pheasants and Quail Forever is the newest outdoor organization to be formed in north central Missouri. The
organization was founded in 2004 and held its first fund raising banquet in the fall of 2005. The Cameron-based Pheasants and Quail chapter have been very active since its inception. All of the money raised by the chapter stays in the area. To date, they have donated money to the MDC for the purchase of equipment. They have also purchased a 7-foot tiller for use by landowners in the area for establishing firebreaks and preparing food plots. They are also working with the MDC on a cost-sharing basis through the Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program. Kevin Henry is currently
serving as President. Kent Brown is the Secretary-Treasurer. Return
